Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Pasture Tender?
The Pasture Tender is the Original Patented All-In-One Equine Pasture & Paddock Maintenance Implement that awakened the equestrian world with excitement back in 2015. It is an equine drag that picks up horse poo pods, transports them, grinds down poo pods and reSpreads it onto soil instead of smearing or slinging clumps on top of pasture greens. This process enriches soil fertilizes greens.
Backstory In 2015, inventor Mr. Ronald Collins, had his son Brent upload a home made video of the Pasture & Paddock Tender aka Pasture Tender (for short) that had been recorded with a GoPro strapped to the back of a golfcart onto social media platform Facebook.
Overnight the video went viral, amassing over 150k Likes, while people commented and shared it all over the world. Mr Collins had the design and functionality fully patented but lost his battle with cancer soon afterward. All plans to take Pasture Tender to market were stifled for a time.
In 2020, Brent attempted to take Pasture Tender to market, sold a few units but was stifled again by the Pandemic. There have been close to 100 units sold thus far. With not one complaint or return and many rave reviews.
This 135 lb solid steel Implement is designed and built to last. To give proper perspective: The original Pasture & Paddock Tender prototype was finalized back in late 2015 by Mr Ronald Collins’ for his daughter Veronica. It is still in use today after a decade! It is an extremely durable implement that is built with superior quality and patented all-in-one functionality, in comparison to any and all other options on the market.
Saving hours upon hours of hard labor each week for horse owners, equine professionals, horse barn assistants and farm helpers. Without damaging pasture greens in the process, enriching soil and making pasture greens pristine.
How do you operate a Pasture Tender?
Pasture Tender comes fully assembled.
Simply hook it up to your ATV, Golfcart or any preferred method of pulling (speed must exceed 10mph but no more than 15mph)and drag it through pastures and paddocks. The Pasture Tender adapts to angles of land it is dragged on.
Our measurement is that if you can drive on it, you can pull the PT on it. (Of course, we never drag any field or paddock during or right after rainy weather. A great practice is to wait two (2) full dry days/ 48 hours.) When Pasture Tender is full, simply pull up to your compost pile and dump it or shovel/sweep it out.
What makes Pasture Tender revolutionary is that it is the only implement of its kind. And this is why.
The PT not only collects and transports equine waste out of pastures and paddocks to compost piles or anywhere else you wish to take it. (Cross fertilization) It can also be used as an amazing spreader of collected manure.
After Collecting a full Pasture Tender, simply pull the pins and let the Floor pans drop out as you continue to drag.
The lower level has a built in grinding floor that will break up equine waste into small particles as it pushes pasture greens forward and drops waste on top of soil to enrich it and fertilize. No more slinging manure everywhere, smearing it or leaving clumps of it on top of greens that cause souring and yellowing them.
Is a Pasture Tender safe?
Yes indeed!
Mr Ronald Collins and his daughter Veronica spent months testing and modifying the Pasture & Paddock Tender aka Pasture Tender so that it performs safely and cleanly on all the above tasks. Each unit is designed with a precautionary "safety bar" as well. It is completely safe to operate for the purposes it is intended to.
Does Pasture Tender pick up rocks, pinecones, or nuts?
Yes
Pasture Tender is used to pick up rocks, pine cones, nuts, tree limbs, trash and debris. Anything loose in a pasture or paddock that is not taller than the 10 inch safety on bar located at front will be collected by Pasture Tender with ease.
Will Pasture Tender work in tall grass?
Yes it does. Tall grass is not a problem.
Side note The Pasture Tender works best in grass that is no more than 8-10 inches in height.
Who can benefit from a Pasture Tender?
Although the Pasture & Paddock Tender aka Pasture Tender was initially designed and built by a father as a labor of love for his teenage daughter in assisting with her horse pasture and paddock clean up and maintenance, it is used by many different farm types and for all types of creative means. People dealing with agriculture in general have found the implement to be extremely beneficial to use with daily chores.
Any and all horse owners, equine professionals and/or horse barn and pasture maintenance workers or helpers. Designed specifically for all equine pasture & paddock waste management. However it is used to remove all types of animal waste, rocks, pine cones, etc.
Side note The grinding floor and spreader functionality (pans out) is designed solely for use with equine manure.
What benefits are there in using a Pasture Tender instead of modern pooper scoopers, a traditional pitchfork and wheel barrel, a harrow, a manure spreader or simply dragging a pasture with chain link fence section?
- Saves money on purchasing several different drags and tools because the all-in-one Pasture Tender handles those duties.
- Saves several hours of time each week in removing horse poo pods. What used to take 3-4 hours, is now done in 15-20 minutes (per 2-3 acres), without any hard labor.
- Saves several hours of time each week in spreading collected manure while also keeping manure from smearing or clumping on top of greens.
- Saves land from being dug into or grooves being made.
- Saves health and beauty of pasture greens/feed due to lumps of manure being slung on top of greens that cause yellowing or souring and from damages done by the use of other tools, drags, and scoopers.
- Saves horses health tremendously by keeping down fly problems, parasite and worm infestation.
- Enables horses to feed instantly from pastures after clean up and/or spreading.
- Saves the human body aches, wear and tare. Back, shoulders, arms, neck and feet issues.
